An Experimental Analysis Of The Sound Generated By A Turbulent Airfoil Section Made Of Viscoelastic Material

In this work, we try to make an experimental analysis about the sound generated by the air flow when it passes through an airfoil. The airfoils, which we are going to experiment, are of difIerent kind of material s, emphasizing the viscoelastic materials. We are going to work in a laboratory located in the Department of Fluid Mechanics in the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. In this laboratory we will have the equipment for measurement of sound level and all the necessary elements to make the experiment. We will have a wind tunnel facility which will throw air flow and this one will cross through the different type of airfoils and with different angles of attack. We will take measurements of the noise generated and then will compare the results. The purpose of this study is to investigate the viscoelastic airfoils and to know if this kind of material could reduce the noise generated when a flow crossed through it.
