Letters, orders, receipts, and inventories, dated Oct. 24, 1863-Jan. 17, 1864 in Nueva Caceres and other towns of Camarines Sur province, and directed to Anastasio de Hoyos y Zendegui, alcalde mayor of the province, from the local gobernadorcillos, concerning tax collection and other municipal matters. Letters dated Dec. 14, 1863 from the mayors of Siroma, Sipocot, Buji, and Goa, inform Hoyos of the damage to their towns from severe windstorms. Another letter to Hoyos from the mayor of Nabua describes flooding of rice fields and damage to roads and bridges from extensive rains. Many of the documents are orders from Hoyos to the mayors of San José, Pasacao, San Fernando, Baao, Canaman, Bombon, Nabua, and Buji, requesting prompt submission of town financial and tax reports for the month of December, replies from the mayors are appended, acknowledging receipt of the order. Also included is an inventory of goods confiscated for tax delinquency and sold at auction to raise money for taxes, as well as an inventory of the property of the current gobernadorcillo of Sipocot, a receipt for tax revenues for church maintenance (santorum), and a request to Hoyos from the gobernadorcillo of Tigaon for six firearms for defense.
