Excerpt from Fifth Catalogue Of Second-Hand Books: Being a Collection Of Rare Volumes Relating Chiefly To Spanish America, For Sale At Affixed Prices The majority of the works in this catalogue are Mexicana and many of them are excessively rare. Collectors pursuing special lines of study are referred to the Cross Reference Index, which includes the lists in Catalogues Nos. 3 and 4 as well. All orders for Mexicana not in the following list will be promptly executed, but I must warn collectors that Mexican books are growing scarcer daily, and I often find it impossible to secure them at the prices which have ruled in past, years. A handsome reduction in the prices of the Autographs in Catalogue No. 3 will be made to parties taking a number of them The chief features of the present Catalogue are Religious books printed in Mexico, Novels, Poetry, History and Miscellaneous works, and a magnificent private collection of books and pamphlets on Chiapas and the border-land between Mexico and Guatemala, These latter were gathered together through the expenditure of much time and money by Dr. Nicolas Leon, a learned historian of this City, who had a contract with the Government of Chiapas to write an exhaustive history of that State and its relations with Mexico and Guatemala in the early times, but owing to some misunderstanding the arrangement fell through, and the works have been placed with me for sale. Chiapas has the peculiar anomaly of having belonged at different periods to both Mexico and Guatemala, as well as Spain. There are also a number of pamphlets, and many rare works on Yucatan, Tabasco and the Isthmus of lehuantepec, the majority of them having the book-plate of the former owner. Take Notice!
