Individual empowerment in the international system- Towards development, through freedom is composed of six articles with a common theme – the enhancement of individual freedoms as both an instrument and an end to the development process. Each article analyzes the relation between individual empowerment and important issues of the contemporary international agenda, such as the poverty-environment nexus, exchange rate misalignments and capital flows, the fight against transnational corruption, the boundaries of the right to free expression, international terrorism, and the protection of individuals against the crime of genocide.
