Part of the Cuenca de Sayula archaeology project, this is a detailed study of saltmaking processes in Mesoamerica over the last 2000 years. Seeking to determine the socio-economic implications of salt-production during the prehispanic period, Liot researches the geography of the area, the techniques involved in producing salt and presents the finds made during the excavation, comparing the results with other areas of Western Mexico.
