Autobiography of the eminent Venezuelan musicologist Ramón y Rivera (1913-93). Born to a family of modest means in San Cristóbal, he became an accomplished musician and leading authority on the folk music of Venezuela. The narrative, however, goes only to 1945, focusing on his early career as a performing musician and educator –Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
