The book is a collection of articles (with photographs) of biographical sketches written because of the death of diverse personalities-writers, politicians, painters, musicians-mostly deceases in the exile. Thus it rescues for the historic memory of Cuba these characters who are important by their creation and weaves besides an intrahistory of the cultural task of the exile. Among them are included: Reinaldo Arenas, Gaston Baquero, Lydia Cabrera, Octavio R. Costa, Eugenio Florit, Raquel la Villa, Dulce Maria Loynaz, Carlos Marquez Sterling, Guillermo Martinez Marquez, Jorge Mas Canosa, Lino Novas Calvo, Heberto Padilla, Pura del Prado, Jose Maria Mijares and many others.
