Resumen del Libro



In Mexico City, during the decade of the seventies some artists held positions that differed from the traditional way of producing and understanding art. Many of the collective strategies that were part of what now ranks as the movement of groups , transforming undeniable effect of which reverberates to this day. Indeed it was largely the artists of the decades of the seventies and eighties, who in a complex historical moment not only slung stone – metaphorically speaking – but defended other modes of artistic production that allowed some contours of what is now contemporary art as visible as the beginnings of video art, environments and installations, art fax, bodily actions, mail art or sound explorations. Production of the Non-Group (1977 and 1983) is characterized by a caustic and irreverent humor iconoclastic towards the official channels of the moment. During their foundation Andrea di Castro, Hersúa, Sandra Isabel Llano, Katya Mandoki, Roberto de León and Susana Realh Sierra, were important to the beginnings, they soon ceased to be part of the group. Instead Maris Bustamante, Melquíades Herrera, Núñez and Rubén Alfredo Valencia, were the artists that remained as the Non-Group, meeting for more six years of action.
