Pedro Alcántara Quijano Montero

During the restoration project of the church, La Candelaria, in Bogotá, a mural by Pedro Alcántara Quijano was discovered. This book includes a detailed iconographic study of the mural as well as documentation of his pictures, landscapes, still-lifes and historical paintings. Maestro Quijano was a student of Enrique Recio y Gil and part of the circle of important artists such as Andrés de Santamaría, Pergrino Rivera Arce and Francisco Antonio Cano, all of whom were part of the formation of the Círculo de Bellas Artes. His sphere of influence was strong during the early part of the 20th century.
