Carmen Baroja, who was brought up &la according to the Spanish tradition, and who, according to her writings, did not begin to enjoy life until her old age, developed a great artistic activity (gold work) and investigated folklore which no one, not even she, thought very valuable. She actively participated in the foundation of a &la Ladys Club, the Lyceum, which was visited by &la every intellectual, doctor, and artist, and also wrote articles and books. Throughout the pages of these memoirs one can find all of the great names of the letters, arts, and politics of the Generation of 1898. Given the personal nature of these written words, these characters are treated with extreme sincerity, some with affection and others with violent sarcasm.
