Salón De Mayo De París En La Habana, Julio De 1967
Resumen del Libro
The book accounts for one of the cultural events of greatest importance to the island in the 1960s: the exhibition in national territory of a selection of works presented in the Salon of May 1967 in Paris exhibited at the Salon de Mayo, Cuba, Havana, 30 July 1967. The event, remembered still with remarkable intensity for those who lived it, had an impact without precedent in the country, not only in the specialized public, but in all the people interested in what occurred in the Pabellon Cuba, the headquarters of the above-mentioned exhibition. This study is more than a simple sample of visual arts, the May Salon in Havana was a possibility of cultural exchange and had its climax in the realization of the mural Cuba Colectiva (Collective Cuba), where more than a hundred intellectuals and artists intervened. The main essay by Llanes is a description and detailed analysis of each of the elements and possible edges of the historic art event, along with a valuable compendium of annexes. Numerous photos of the mural and the identification of almost all of its authors, represent the main contribution of this volume.
