The images in Han Lei: In Between, arranged in scrapbook fashion, tell a story of a world is populated with soldiers carrying banners, costumed figures in small-town parades and distant children playing in parks. These moody black-and-white snapshots from the 1980s and 90s are interspersed with more recent, theatrical tableaux in color.
