Published by the Argentine Dept. of Culture and the National Academy of Tango, this beautifully produced coffee-table book is an abridged version of the authors El libro del tango (see HLAS 46:7032). Written in English to serve as a gift from Argentine authorities to foreign visitors, the work is richly illustrated and covers over 100 years of tango history. Lacking a bibliography and source citations, it is of limited use to specialists –Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
