The Notion Of Mediation In Vygotsky S Work: Some Historical Conceptual Considerations

The purpose of this research focused on the concept of mediation in the work of Russian theoretician Lev Semenovich Vygotsky [Liev Semionovich Vygotski]. The mediation of cognitive processes is an important issue for psychology and has been a topic of rising interest in the current affairs of the discipline as well as related fields. As part of the objectives of the investigation, the author: identified some of the theoretical and philosophical precedents of the notion of mediation in Vygotsky, analyzed the ways in which Vygotsky elaborated his notion of mediation as a fundamental concept in his framework of cognitive processes, examined the concept of mediation in some contemporary works in the field more or less related to the Vygotskian tradition, and addressed some final considerations regarding mediation. Vygotskys proposal of the mediated character of the mind is an important contribution to the current debates in Psychology.
