Photographic copy of the Catecismo de la doctrina cristiana by the Jesuit father Gerónimo de Ripalda, as translated into Mixtec by Father Antonio González. Preliminary materials include licenses, as well as the translators dedication of the work to the Provincia de San Hypólito de Oaxaca. The first section explains, in catechism form, basic points of Catholic doctrine, such as the Creed, Articles of Faith, the Pater Noster, Ave Maria, Salve Regina, the Ten Commandments, the Sacraments, original, venal, and mortal sins, the cardinal virtues, and the Beatitudes. There are also two appendices: the section entitled Mysterios de fee que debe saber y creer el christiano para salvarse … is a basic catechism in Spanish and Mixtec, arranged in double columns on each page. In Forma de dar el viático a los enfermos, questions and responses for administering communion to the sick and dying are given in Mixtec, with some parts in Latin.
