Resumen del Libro

The Successive sets of Studia Patristica contain papers delivered at the International Conferences on Patristic Studies, which meets for a week once every four years in Oxford and is held under the aegis of the Theology Faculty of the University. Members of these conferences come from all over the world, and the papers presented reflect this global representation. Chronologically and topically, the papers range from the second century to the Nachleben of the Fathers. The majority are short papers dealing with some small and manageable point, they raise and sometimes resolve questions about the authenticity of documents, dates of events and the like, and some unveil new texts. The smaller number of longer papers put such matters into context and indicate wider trends. Each set is provided with an index, an invaluable index of references to the individual Fathers and each of their works. The whole reflects the state of Patristic scholarship and demonstrates the vigor and popularity of the subjects. Includes studies on Nestorius, Sophronius, Christianity in Roman Africa, Voluntary Martyrdom, The Cult of Mars in Late Antique Caesarea, Pope Martin I, The Donatist Opposition to Monasticism, The Pericope Adulterae in Georgian, Patristic and Rabbinic Interpretations of Genesis 3, Antiochene Exegesis of the Prophets, The View of Satan and Demons, Miracles in Visigothic Hagiography, Humour in Monastic and Hagiographic Literature, Early Christian Hagiography in Late Antique Austria, and many more. Contributions in English, French and German.
