Wineries Ii
Resumen del Libro
Virtually ignored throughout its 2000-year history, the architecture of wine growing estates gained a dramatic new level of awareness in 1988 when the Centre Georges Pompidou mounted an exhibition Chateaux of Bordeaux . Its focus was the `architecture of wine and it became the catalyst of a stimulating international discussion of wine and wine culture. The buildings depicted in this book constitute a representative example of the diversity of wineries in the world today. It is also hoped that the book will inspire readers to visit some of them in order to experience first hand the marriage of architecture and wine at its best. Each vineyard and winery is presented in a series of superb photographs showing both interiors and exteriors. An extensive index lists the architects (Herzog de Meuron, Joseph Coogan, Mies van der Rohe) for each project, geographic locations, types of wine produced, and guided tour schedules.
